what we do

We don't just invest.
We operate.

We are builders who have started, scaled, and sold companies. Every business and project we touch, we are inside — making decisions, solving problems, and staying accountable to the outcome.

Acquisitions

We buy businesses we know how to run.

We acquire businesses in industries where we have real operating experience and stay inside them as active owners. If you're thinking about a transition, we're worth talking to.

Capital

We deploy capital where we can add real operational value.

Selectively, we provide gap financing and growth capital to operators and portfolio companies — value-backed, not speculative.

discuss an opportunity

how we work

A simple operating framework that drives real results.

Every business we work with goes through the same four-step process. It is not complicated. It just requires discipline and follow-through.

clarity

We diagnose the business honestly — what is working, what is not, and what the path forward looks like. No sugarcoating.

cadence

We install the right leadership, reporting, and operating rhythm so the business runs with consistency — not just when the owner is watching.

capital

We deploy capital strategically — into acquisitions, operations, or development — only where it clearly accelerates real value.

traction

Execution locks in. Performance improves. Value compounds over time — which is the only timeline that matters to us.

how we think about partnership

We are not the right fit for everyone. That is by design.

We work with people we trust, in situations where we genuinely believe we can create value for everyone involved. We move carefully before we say yes.

If something is not a fit, we will tell you. We enjoy meeting good people and having honest conversations, whether or not it turns into something more.

If it is a fit, we move with clarity, and do what we say we will do.

acquisitions

We buy businesses
to run them.

We buy businesses in industries we know — and step in as owners and operators. Not passive capital. Not a board seat. We're actually in it.

who we acquire

Businesses with good fundamentals and owners ready for what's next.

"Our advantage is in our knowledge and experience building and sustaining companies rooted in the physical world."

We look for profitable businesses where the owner is ready for a transition — whether that means retiring, stepping back, or moving on to the next chapter. We move quickly, structure honest deals, and stay actively involved after close.

If you are not sure you are ready to sell, that is fine too. We are happy to have an early conversation with no obligation attached.

what we look for

Industries we know from the inside

We buy businesses in sectors where we have direct operating experience. We are not generalist buyers.

Profitable with real cash flow

We look for businesses that are already working — not turnarounds. Good fundamentals matter more than a specific number.

An owner ready for what's next

Retirement, succession, partnership change — we have navigated all of these. Tell us where you are and we'll take it from there.

A team worth keeping

We prefer to buy businesses with good people already in place. We invest in those teams — we do not replace them wholesale.

how it works

Our process is straightforward.

No unnecessary steps. No games at the table. We move with clarity at each stage.

01

A confidential conversation

We start with a no-obligation call to understand your business, your situation, and your goals. There is nothing to prepare. All conversations are confidential.

02

Preliminary review

Under NDA, we review high-level financials and business details. If it looks like a fit, we move to a Letter of Intent — usually within days, not months.

03

Due diligence — thorough, not prolonged

We focus on what matters: operations, people, customer relationships, financials. We do not use diligence as a renegotiation tool.

04

Structure and close

We structure deals that work for both sides. Earnouts, seller notes, and transition arrangements are all on the table. We close when we say we will.

05

Transition and operations

We work alongside the existing team through transition. We are not a financial buyer who hands off a binder. We are the ones running it.

what sellers tell us

What it feels like to work with us.

We do what we say.

If we make an offer, we mean it. We do not retrade. We do not manufacture problems during diligence to chip the price. Our word means something.

We respect what you built.

Your business, your team, your culture — we come in with respect. We are not here to gut it. We are here to build on it.

We stay in it.

Post-close, we are not gone. We are in the business — installing systems, supporting the team, and staying accountable to the outcome.

We move with clarity.

You will always know where we stand. No vague timelines, no back-channel maneuvering. We communicate straight.

Long-term owners.

We are not building toward a flip in three years. We are building a durable platform for the long haul — no fund timeline forcing our hand.

We stay accountable to the outcome.

Post-close, we are not gone. We are in the business — working alongside the team, solving real problems, and taking responsibility for what happens next.

for operators

Interested in leading one of the businesses we acquire?

When we acquire a business, we sometimes bring in an operator to lead it — someone with the right experience, who wants ownership alongside compensation and is willing to be genuinely accountable to the outcome.

If you have operating experience and are interested in running a company with real equity upside and accountability — we would like to talk.

real estate development

Creative projects,
built to hold.

We develop niche, high-return real estate with a long-term ownership mindset and operational discipline at every stage.

how we develop

We build what we would own for 20 years.

"We are not chasing the trend. We find the overlooked project, build it right, and decide — hold for cash flow, or recycle capital for the next build."

We focus on creative, niche projects in markets we understand — where operational insight creates an edge. We build with quality because we intend to own for a long time.

We decide early whether to hold for cash flow or recycle capital into the next project. Either way, we approach every build as if we are keeping it.

how we select projects

Creative and niche focus

We look for projects others overlook — underserved niches, creative uses, markets where insight creates advantage.

Mountain West geography

We develop where we operate — Utah and the broader Mountain West. We know the markets, the regulators, the contractors.

Disciplined capital allocation

Every project has a clear hold-vs-exit decision made early. We do not chase projects without a clear rationale.

Long-term cash flow intent

Half of our projects are held — generating durable, compounding income that funds the platform over time.

who we work with

Open to the right conversations.

Real estate is collaborative. Here are the kinds of partners we look for and the conversations we welcome.

Landowners

Own land in the Mountain West?

Whether you are looking to sell, joint venture, or explore what your land could become — we are worth talking to. We evaluate land-to-project opportunities seriously.

General Contractors

Looking for development work or a build partner?

We work with GCs who build with quality and can communicate honestly about timelines and costs. If you have a track record, we would like to know you.

Developers

Experienced in a niche or market we are not yet in?

We are open to co-development with the right people — operators who know their market, move with discipline, and want a long-term platform behind them.

Capital Partners

Interested in debt or equity in our projects?

We selectively work with capital partners who share our long-term outlook. We are not building quick flips. If that aligns with your investment philosophy, reach out.

current activity

We are actively developing projects and expanding our real estate platform. For information on land opportunities, build partnerships, or capital conversations — reach out directly.

Have a project, a piece of land, or an idea worth exploring?

We will tell you honestly if it fits. No pressure either way.

about the collective

Operators who own
what we build.

No fund timeline. No passive boards. We are in the businesses we own — doing the work, staying accountable, and building for the long term.

who we are

Why we built the Collective.

The Collective was founded in 2020 on a straightforward belief: the best way to add value to a business is to actually be inside it. We had spent years building, scaling, and selling companies ourselves — and we kept seeing how most capital shows up to the boardroom instead of the field.

We built something different. A platform that acquires businesses and runs them. A team that gets its hands dirty. A model where our interests are completely aligned with the companies we partner with.

We focus on industries we know from the inside — where operating experience creates a real edge. We are selective about what we take on, deliberate about how we run it, and in it for the long term. Lean by design. Selective by choice.

"We exist to build great companies, leaders, and communities — converting potential into real performance through Clarity, Cadence & Capital."

the long view

What we are building toward.

We own what we operate.

We are inside every company in our portfolio — supporting the team, helping shape decisions, and staying accountable to the outcome. We are not observers.

No fund timeline.

We are not managing toward a forced exit. We hold businesses as long as they are performing and we can add value — no external clock forcing our hand.

Lean and deliberate.

We take on fewer things and do them well. We are selective about what we acquire and careful about how we grow. Quality over volume, always.

the team

The people doing the work.

Our partners are directly involved in every acquisition, every project, and every company in the portfolio.

Morgan Green
Partner
Morgan Green is focused on building companies, partnerships, and platforms that create long-term value. With a background in construction, business development, and real estate, he has spent his career growing and scaling businesses across the construction, engineering, and service industries.

He is known for his ability to bring people together around a clear vision and turn complex opportunities into executable plans. His experience spans sales leadership, company building, and strategic partnerships.

Nick Munsee
Nick Munsee
Partner
Nick Munsee grew up around small business ownership and learned early what it takes to keep one running. Not in theory, but in practice. That shaped how he thinks about business: less from a distance, more from the inside out.

His focus is on building the structure that makes a business work. Systems, accountability, and team clarity. The things that don't happen on their own but change everything when they're in place. He's not in the day-to-day operations, but he gets deeply involved in how a business is built to run.

At The Collective, Nick works alongside operators to acquire and improve businesses and real estate. He's most useful where there's real work to do and a clear path to making something better over time.
Micah Green
Micah Green
Partner
Micah Green is an entrepreneur and operator with deep experience in construction, business ownership, and real estate development. He began working in his family's construction business at a young age, developing a strong foundation in hard work, accountability, and execution. Since then, he has started, acquired, and operated multiple businesses across the AEC and related industries.

At The Collective, Micah focuses on acquisitions, real estate development, and capital deployment. He works closely with owners and teams to improve businesses, structure disciplined investments, and build long-term value.

how we operate

Core values.

win-win value creation

We only pursue outcomes where all parties benefit. If we cannot materially improve the business, we do not engage.

operators first

We lead from experience, not theory. We show up hands-on and take responsibility for outcomes — not just credit for good ones.

discipline over volume

Selectivity is our greatest strength. Fewer things done exceptionally well — no chasing fees, momentum, or hype.

people matter

Businesses are built by people. We invest in leaders and treat every owner with respect — not as a transaction.

clarity creates traction

Simple systems drive performance. Clear expectations, real accountability, and data-informed decisions — consistently.

stay close to the work.

We got here through long, hard days on the job. Staying close to the work is how we stay honest, stay effective, and keep getting better.
